Digital Cable Filter

digital cable filter products

DIGITAL CABLE FILTER USED FOR INTERFERENCE FILTERING

Because cable modem gets bandwidth from your Cable TV provider, the coaxial cable that provides the cable TV signal at the jack will be split using a 2-way splitter Model 15-2582 (5-1100MHz) manufactured by Radio Shack. One signal will be sent to the input jack of the TV set and the other goes to the input jack of the broadband cable modem.

The transmitted signal from the cable modem can sometimes overwhelm the cable signal going to the TV if both are connected on the same string. This means adding a HPF 54 Filter such as the one we sell (PASS: 54-2300MHz/STOP BAND: 0-40MHz). This filter is manufactured for many different reasons. This is to allow only the TV channel frequencies to pass through while blocking the upstream frequency band and to block ingress noise in the low upstream frequency range from the in-house wiring. Noise injected at each individual residence accumulates in the upstream path towards the head-end so it is essential to keep it at a minimum at every single residence using cable modem service.

To connect the cable modem to the PC desktop via Ethernet, a Network Interface Card (NIC) must be installed into a PCI or ISA slot. In this case, an Etherfast® 10/100 LAN Card PCI Type Model LNE100TX ver 5.1 manufactured by LinkSys is installed in one of the spare PCI slots on the PC. The cable modem is then attached to the Ethernet card via an RJ-45 network cable.

Once the introduction of cable television, the general direction regarding entertainment programming had been driven in one direction. That is, from the cable headend to the subscriber. With the advent of Pay-Per-View (PPV) programming, information began flowing from the subscriber to the cable operator. Initially, it began with Pay-Per-View selection data including billing. In some cases, the telephone served as the return information path.

As new services for the homes increased, such as shopping, banking and access to the Internet, faster data transfer became necessary. The twisted pair, the telephone wires that normally carried this data, can no longer satisfy this type of requirement. The coaxial cable used in signal transmission for cable television can provide the high speed return path communication link for today's use and for future expansion. The frequency band of 5 to 42 MHz was selected as the return path. This particular frequency band is not without its own variety of difficulties.

Unfortunately, there are many undesirable signals generated in this frequency spectrum such as world radio, ham operators and home appliances. These undesirable signals, or ingress, can get into the cable system signal stream via poor connections or from the home hook-up of the subscriber and contaminate the return data information to the point where the data can no longer be recognized. To eliminate this interference, put a HPF 54 filter strategically into the drop cable. This filter, as shown in the figure above, can be used in the system where return data from the subscriber is not being used.

This device is to be used ONLY on your own privately owned equipment! It is meant to be used as a second or third setting when you are already fully activated. It can be used legally on your own digital box when you have paid for an event that you are watching on your other rented or privately owned box.

This unit is also a great tool for technicians to use on equipment they are repairing and testing. If the technician was to test the PPV buy option on the remote to see if the box is indeed working correctly, they could press the "Buy" button on the remote and the pay-per-view comes in, the box and TV are then shut off by the technician so no one was to watch that paid programming, and the customer is not billed for the PPV that was ordered.

All programming that can be received by pressing the "Buy", "Order" or "Purchase" button on your remote can be viewed without the billing information from reaching the cable company by having device connected to your digital cable box as it blocks the billing information. Therefore, is is imperative that you notify the cable company of any programming purchased and/or viewed while using our equipment, and you must also please read and agree to our terms of sale before purchasing any of our products, and to abide by all local, state and federal laws regarding the ownership and/or use of any cable equipment.

*This High Pass Cable Filter is meant for use on digital RF products, if attached, it is able to block the PPV signal that's supposed to go to the cable company for billing. You will receive the purchased PPV movie without the cable company knowing, therefore, it is your job to alert them of all movies/events ordered. Check with local & state laws before buying this product.*

These are newly designed and is a super mini size high pass filters. They have excellent specifications, dimensions of only 13mm x 40.5mm and a weight of only 18g. These filters are best suitable for use in many communications applications, such as CATV, Cable Internet and other RF systems.

Recently there has been a major increase in demand for the filters due to their ability to block outgoing signals such as PPV ordering information from most residential digital cable terminals. We do not authorize or condone such action, it is basically the customers' responsibility to abide by all local, state, and federal laws.

The electrical features are listed below.

1. Wide Band, Frequency Up To 1GHz.
2. High Rejection, 60dB(type) / 55dB(min).
3. Lowest insertion loss, signal-through-loss reduced to a minimum.
4. Excellent return loss 20dB, good impedance match reduces signal loss to keep the signal clean.
5. Pass Band: 54-1000 MHz

*Be Aware* ALL Cable Boxes have stored memory, inside this memory is the PPV's purchased information. With each order comes detail and simple instructions on how to clear this cable memory of purchase records.

Never buy a filter without this information.

This information and filter are only to be used by legitimate cable technicians and/or for educational purposes only. Legally if you decide to use this filter in an illegal way, you assume all responsibility for your actions and the seller will not be held responsible.
